At Crossroads Maine, our group therapy program is here to help you realize that you aren’t alone in your struggle with achieving and maintaining a sober lifestyle. We work to create an environment in which our clients feel safe to share. Our group therapy program allows clients to learn from one another. At Crossroads Maine, we create a sense of community among our clients and therapists/ counselors.

Following are the outpatient therapy and educational groups at Crossroads Maine’s counseling centers in Kennebunk and Scarborough. We understand that it can be nerve-wracking to share your story with others. All groups cater specifically to women or men. We understand the importance of holding groups in a comfortable, discreet environment. Crossroads accepts MaineCare, Medicare, private insurance, and self-pay.

Women’s Aftercare Group

While you’re in IOP, you may make plans that feel foolproof for your aftercare. When real-life sets in, things can get complicated. At Crossroads Maine, we recognize this and want to continue to provide you with the support you need to be successful. The Aftercare Group (TAG) provides supportive group counseling once a week with an emphasis on encouraging the development of the fulfillment, accountability, and self-care that can lead to sustained, stable recovery. Themes of the group counseling may include: warnings signs to interrupt relapse, developing healthy relationships, assertive communication, emotional regulation skills, self-sufficiency and independence, managing stress, and sober fun. This group is for women who have recently completed an IOP, residential or both and for women with one month or more of sobriety looking for support.

The Effects of Addiction on Friends & Family

Group therapy for addiction is important, and it’s also helpful for people affected by a loved one’s addiction. The Effects of Addiction on Friends & Family 4-Week Educational Series Crossroads offers The Effects of Addiction on Friends & Family 4-Week Educational Series to anyone who has a loved one with a substance abuse problem, male or female, who may or may not be in treatment. Those working with people affected by addiction will also find this series helpful. The 4-week series covers: The Basics of Addiction, The Effects of Addiction on the User & Family & Friends, Relapse & Recovery, and The Do’s & Don’ts. Men’s Early Recovery Group

The Men’s Early Recovery Group (TAG) is for men recovering from alcohol and drug use problems. This group will help you find your way to a satisfying recovery in a safe, helpful, nonjudgemental environment. The early stages of recovery can prove challenging, as you learn to navigate your new life while avoiding triggers. By helping you learn methods to deal with cravings, stress, and relationship problems, this counseling group will allow you to discover fulfillment and contentment that leads to a healthy and stable life in recovery.
