Crossroads for Women will be busy this Saturday, May 17th. We’ll be involved with 2 health events, one in Sanford and one in Portland (Maine).
The 3rd annual Women’s Health Expo is being held at Goodall Hospital, in Sanford, Maine. It’s the biggest one-day event for women in Maine and expects about 5,000 attendees. The free event is from 8:00am – 3:30pm and “will give women of all ages a chance to enliven their body and spirit, leaving refreshed and energized.” The expo includes 160 vendors, including Crossroads for Women, free health screenings, lectures and demonstrations, prizes and yummy food. The first 1,000 people get a free tote bag, and there’s even free child care! Get all the details here.
Also on Saturday is the 8th annual Bayside Health Fair presented by the University of Southern Maine Bayside Community Nursing Partnership and the Bayside Neighborhood Association. The fair is from 10:00am – 2:00pm on Oxford Street between Chestnut and Myrtle streets in Portland. There will be health and wellness information, screenings, entertainment, prizes and raffles. The health fair follows a 5k run benefiting Maine Medical Center’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and Bayside Community.
Crossroads for Women will be represented at both events with staff talking to people about our services, addiction, women’s substance abuse and mental health treatment and recovery.
If you go to one of these fun events, stop by the Crossroads for Women table and say hi. We’ll give you a really cool magnetic bumper sticker!
