Faces and Voices of Recovery is asking the public to join them in calling on their US Representative to help make history by voting “Yes” on The Paul Wellstone Mental Health and Addiction Equity Act, H.R. 1424. A vote has been scheduled by the leadership of the US House of Representatives for tomorrow, March 5th.
According to David Rosenbloom, Director of Join Together, “Members of Congress have complained to me for years that they never hear from individuals who want them to expand access to drug and alcohol treatment. They do hear from insurance companies and small business owners who oppose these changes because they are afraid that if more people seek care, their cost will go up. I guess its cheaper for them to fire people who are ill.”

If you live in the Washington DC area, you can also join Faces and Voices of Recovery at a rally on March 5th. Representatives Jim Ramstad and Patrick Kennedy, former First Lady Rosalynn Carter, and David Wellstone are scheduled to speak at the rally.
