At the start of 2014, there will be some significant changes to Crossroads for Women residential programs. Due to a loss in funding from the state of Maine, we will no longer be able to run our long-term halfway house program. While we are certainly disappointed in this outcome, we have moved quickly to develop a more sustainable residential substance abuse program for women that will not rely on state funds.
In addition, our Residential Rehabilitation program at the Boulton Center for Women and Children will focus on treatment for women who are pregnant, have children ages 5 and under, or are working on family reunification.
Rest assured that we are working with our current clients to help them with their next steps once these changes occur. Some will remain in Crossroads for Women rich programming, while others will continue on with their recovery journey in the community.
These changes in no way will affect the quality of care Crossroads for Women provides for its clients. In fact, we think it will improve. In the upcoming months, you will start to hear more about the new Back Cove Residential Program which will open in early 2014.
The Back Cove Residential Program will offer holistic treatment for women in a beautiful Maine setting. In addition to gender-responsive addiction and emotional health treatment, our holistic approach will include yoga, equine therapy, acupuncture and other complementary services. The Back Cove Residential Program, a 30 day treatment program, will serve as a premier recovery setting for women from all over the country.
