On October 2, 2013, Crossroads for Women held a farewell party for outgoing executive director, Barbara Dacri. Crossroads for Women board, staff, colleagues and friends celebrated and reminisced about Barbara’s accomplishments as our leader for the past 12 years. All agreed that Crossroads for Women would not be in the strong position it is in without Barbara’s dedication to the clients of Crossroads for Women.
Incoming executive director, Shannon Trainor, presented Barbara with a plaque from staff that included photos of Crossroads for Women’ 4 facilities and a quote on leadership.
“Leadership is the capacity to translate vision into reality.” ~ Warren Bennis
In addition, the Crossroads for Women board of directors announced the creation of the Barbara L Dacri Patient Scholarship Fund. This fund will provide financial assistance to qualified patients to help pay for treatment.
This new patient scholarship fund was announced publicly later in the month at the Crossroads for Women Masquerade Ball.
Held at Dunegrass in Old Orchard Beach, the Masquerade Ball was the first major fundraising event for Crossroads for Women. We were delighted to gather many of Crossroads for Women most committed supporters for an evening of sober fun, where all were comfortable to “come as they wanted to be remembered.”Guests danced the night away to the music of Wavelength and celebrity emcee / Crossroads for Women board of director, Tim Sample, hosted a wonderful live auction.
During the evening, board president Emily Semenchuk, executive director Shannon Trainor, and clinical director Dr. Mary Anne Roy addressed the crowd and officially launched the Crossroads for Women Alumni Association (CAA). Many of the guests were still talking about Crossroads for Women alumna and CAA Chair Susie McKenna’s speech after the event.
The supportive and generous crowd that came to the event and the thought that was put into the fabulous costumes blew us away.
We are happy to report that our first annual Masquerade Ball fundraising gala was a success. With help from our amazing supporters, we were able to raise significantly more than our fundraising goal!
Proceeds from the event benefitted  the programs and services of Crossroads for Women and the Barbara L Dacri Patient Scholarship Fund.
October was certainly a month of new beginnings for Crossroads for Women. Thank you for being a part of it!
